Construction Manager Intern

INSPECTOR / SITE SUPERVISOR INTERN - TEMPORARY

Position Summary: 

We are seeking an individual to be an Inspector / Site Supervisor for a contract position in Columbus, OH (mid-May-August) with the potential to continue on with additional opportunities in the future. The Supervisor will oversee on-site construction activities, ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. This role involves managing subcontractors, coordinating schedules, ensuring safety compliance, and maintaining effective communication with project stakeholders. The ideal candidate will have knowledge in personnel management, general construction, and a variety of roofing systems.

Job Site Location: Dublin/Powell, OH
 

Office/Headquarters: Orrville, OH

Responsibilities:

  • Lead on-site construction activities for a roofing project of multiple specialties (e.g., standing seam, membrane, and shingle)
  • Coordinate daily activities of subcontractors to maintain smooth project flow
  • Communicate with the project manager, architect, and/or engineer to resolve any construction and/or design challenges
  • Oversee quality control and quality assurance practices to ensure compliance with plans, specifications, and building codes
  • Conduct pre-construction meetings with subcontractors to clarify and communicate project requirements and expectations
  • Enforce safety standards and conduct weekly safety meetings to maintain a safe work environment
  • Develop and maintain a 3-6 week lookahead and proactively address any potential delays or constraints
  • Maintain daily communication with the appropriate office personnel and project manager informing of any on-site issues and project completion status

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Knowledge in the roofing trade (shingle, EPDM, TPO, standing seam)
  • Proficiency in computer skills and Google Drive
  • Knowledge of construction methods, materials, and safety regulations
  • Capable of reading and interpreting architectural and engineering drawings
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proven track record of managing complex schedules and multiple subcontractors
  • Reasonable knowledge of safety and OSHA guidelines
  • Conflict resolution, leadership
  • Displays solid customer service skills
  • Creative thinking and the ability to resolve problems independently
  • Ability to develop projects to support customer requirements and increase efficiency
  • OSHA 30 Certification or willingness to obtain

Training:

  • Initial training and integration will take place in the office located in Orrville, OH. Upon completion of initial training requirements and the start of the project, the applicant will report to the site daily.

Job Type: 

  • Full-time summer work.  Start date - May 15, 2025 or whenever school is out for the summer

Pay Scale:

  • $16 - $20 / hour

Overview

Strong communication skills (email, phone, and in-person) and attention to detail are a must. MRI communicates daily with outside General Contractors, building owners, laborers/subcontractors, suppliers, architects, etc. Applicants should possess a strong background in general computer skills such as the Google platform. Estimator software knowledge is highly favorable, but not a requirement.

Training and employment will take place in our Orrville office. Candidates should live within a comfortable driving distance of the office.  Working hours are generally 8AM to 4PM, but are flexible.
