Position: One (1) Full-time Self-Contained Rural School K-8 Classroom Teacher for the 2025-26 School Year
Closing Date: Resumes will be reviewed as they are received, and the position will remain open until filled
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
• Valid Michigan Elementary Teaching Certificate
• Physically and mentally capable of rigorous work (capable of sitting on the floor, standing, and sitting for extended times, and lifting or pushing a minimum of 40 pounds)
• Pass and maintain School Employment background check
ESSENTIAL DUTIES MAY INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
The classroom teacher will perform general daily classroom activities, including planning and facilitating a learning environment and activities appropriate for children to promote intellectual, social, emotional, and physical development.
• Plan, prepare, and implement instruction and assessments using research-based instruction strategies for a self-contained rural school K-8 classroom with approximately 20 students
• Demonstrate creative and innovative lesson plans that contribute to a highly engaged learning community
• Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities
• Participate in professional development opportunities and demonstrate a commitment to continuous learning
• Provide timely and informative feedback to formative and summative assessment tasks
• Use grading practices that achieve the purpose of grades, which indicate the extent of learning
• Communicate student progress and development with parents, staff, and administration
• Provide a flexible and stable learning environment that is child-centered while maintaining appropriate classroom management
• Use technology to support learning
• Effective positive communication skills
• Maintain a calm demeanor when dealing with a crisis/violent situation
• Work with "at-risk" students in accomplishing academic success
• Demonstrate initiative and creativity with students and their program
• Maintain full compliance with legal requirements and documentation
• Sanitation of room and equipment
• Prepare for a substitute
• Any other duties assigned by the Board of Education or Superintendent
