About Vermont Professionals of Color Network (VT PoC)
VT PoC is a nonprofit organization that works to advance the social and economic prosperity of the Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) community in Vermont. We are committed to fostering a new era of professional mobility, supporting entrepreneurial ventures, and empowering professionals and businesses by creating spaces for connection, networking, education, and resource navigation.
About the Role
Are you an outgoing, high-energy, social butterfly who loves talking to people? Do you have a salesperson’s charm, a creative mind, and a knack for making things go viral? If you’re ready to get into the community, get people talking, and help expand the reach of VT PoC, this internship is for you.
We are looking for someone who isn’t afraid of rejection, thrives on engagement, and can make connections everywhere they go. This is a hands-on, fun, and dynamic role where you’ll have the creative freedom to experiment with unconventional tactics to generate buzz about VT PoC. If you love meeting new people, crafting engaging content, and using social media in innovative ways, we want you on our team this summer!
Key Responsibilities
- Spread the word: Get out into the Greater Burlington community, engage with BIPOC individuals and businesses, and promote VT PoC programs and services.
- Outreach to businesses: Speak with BIPOC local business owners, and sign them up for our business directory.
- Community engagement: Attend events, approach people, and drive new VT PoC memberships.
- Cold calling and lead generation: Connect with businesses and individuals to spread awareness and sign them up for VT PoC resources.
- Social media and live streaming: Capture and share dynamic video content, live stream VT PoC events, and develop a fun, engaging persona for our brand. Make us go viral (in a good way)!
What We’re Looking For
- A people person: Outgoing, confident, and not afraid to approach strangers.
- A creative mind: You think outside the box and find unconventional ways to grab attention.
- A natural salesperson: You can communicate VT PoC’s value and convince people to join.
- A social media pro: Comfortable on camera and skilled at creating engaging content.
- A self-starter: Able to work independently, stay organized, and meet deadlines.
- Passionate about community: Committed to racial equity and inclusion.
Perks of the Internship
- Hands-on experience in marketing, outreach, and event promotion.
- The opportunity to build your brand while representing VT PoC.
- A fun and fast-paced work environment where you can experiment with creative engagement strategies.
- Networking opportunities with professionals and business owners in Vermont.
- Spend your summer working for the coolest nonprofit in Vermont, where you’ll be a defender of social justice by day and a networking socialite by night - think of it as your origin story in the world of impact and influence.
