Job Summary:

 

The Tennessee Department of Health provides primary care services in all 95 counties by staffing safety-net clinical sites. These clinics are staffed by both physicians and advanced practice nurses and serve the uninsured and underinsured population. This position will be based at the local Health Department and will involve working at other surrounding county primary care sites.

 

 

Primary Location(s):

 

Northeast – Washington County

Southeast - Hamilton County

Mid Cumberland - Williamson County

Mid Cumberland – Wilson County

Mid Cumberland - Sumner County

 

Northeast - Greene County

Northeast - Hawkins County

Northeast - Church Hill County

 

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Diagnose, treat, and manage chronic and acute diseases in adults and children using evidence-based medicine approaches in an outpatient setting
  • Consult with other health department staff
  • Precept three advanced practice nurses in multiple sites, to include chart review, clinical mentoring, and consultation
  • Participate in county and region-based activities as requested by county and regional supervisors
  • Follow health department guidelines, protocols, and program recommendations
  • Follow professional development directives from the Tennessee Board of Medical Examiners, including having and maintaining a valid unrestricted medical license

 

Minimum Requirements:

 

  • MD or DO degree
  • Valid and unrestricted Tennessee medical license
  • Valid DEA license
  • Residency training in a primary care specialty such as Family Medicine or Internal Medicine
  • Valid Tennessee driver's license and available transportation as position requires at least monthly travel to different sites
