Job Title: Summer Digital Media Specialist
Reports to: Marketing Coordinator
Camp Airy – Summer 2025 Thurmont
This position is a paid hands-on experience in digital media, social media marketing, and photography in a fun and lively summer environment. The Digital Media Specialist is a contract-based position that will extend from June 13-August 10 and is available to a variety of experience levels.
The Digital Media Specialist will aid in the creation and packaging of content to promote Camp Airy during the off-season. While the Digital Media Specialist is considered “Out of Bunk” staff, and will not be living in a bunk with campers, this position will be required to regularly interact with campers and staff of all ages to produce content.
Job Functions:
● Photographing and filming activities around camp including daily activities, special guests, evening activities, bunk life, and events (e.g. Airy Olympics, camp shows, carnivals, etc).
● Editing content for in-camp projects (e.g. bunk photos, social media stories)
● Recording and posting camp performances for families to view in a timely manner.
● Producing content for special events as needed.
Qualifications:
● Have some experience and/or interest in marketing or digital media.
● Have the ability to interact with a variety of age levels.
● Successfully complete a background check and the camps’ interview process.
● Submit all required forms and information prior to attending camp, including health history, I-9, tax forms, and any other forms requested by the Camps Airy & Louise administrators.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
● The ability to work efficiently independently and as part of a team.
● Strong time management skills.
● Basic photography and videography principles.
● Editing software knowledge on an Apple platform.
● Knowledge of social media etiquette.
● An outgoing personality and be comfortable interacting with all staff and campers.
● The ability to relate to youth and adults in a positive manner.
Physical Aspects of the Job:
● The ability to communicate with campers and staff to provide necessary guidance as appropriate.
● The ability to be on your feet and moving around sometimes on uneven terrain for 6-8 hours a day.
● Visual and auditory ability to identify and respond to environmental and other hazards related to relevant activities.
● The ability to maintain respect for other staff member’s living spaces, work environments, and time off schedules.
Other Job Duties:
● Participate as a member of the camp staff team to supervise children during evening programs, special events, and other all-camp activities as needed.
● Remain a role model for campers and younger staff while enjoying the fun aspects of camp and being a staff member.
Time Off:
“Time off is very important to “recharge” and balance personal time with camp time. The Digital Media Specialist will receive five days off and five nights off in addition to a weekend off mid-summer.”
