- Fellowship Stipend Range $3,000 - $3,500
- Internship Time Commitment: approximately 150-200 hours over 9weeks
- Remote/Hybrid: Interns are expected to work during organization’s business hours of operations
- This position is not benefits eligible

Arts + Public Life (APL) at University of Chicago, provides platforms for artists and access to arts programming through artist residencies, arts education, cultural entrepreneurship, and arts-led programs and exhibitions. Arts + Public Life advances and promotes a robust, collaborative, and evolving relationship between the University of Chicago and the South Side’s vibrant civic, cultural, and artistic communities.
Job Summary
APL offers in-depth arts programming to Chicago South Side Youth cultivating creativity, social development, and leadership while inspiring them to find and create their places in the world. Our project-based approach allows students to respond to real-world demands while learning from their lived experiences and their peers. The Arts + Public Life Education Department is seeking an Education Program Assistant to support the needs of the department’s summer term of teen arts education programs. The Education Program Assistant reports to the Associate Director of Education and supports the day-to-day operations and lesson facilitation of the Teen Arts Council. This is a part-time, in-person, internship position that works daytime hours with occasional (1-2) evenings.

Duties and Responsibilities
● Support teaching artists to advance APL’s education pedagogical values
● Organize the acquisition of materials and supplies for programs
● Purchase food and beverages for program participants
● Assist with preparing learning spaces before and after the meeting/class sessions
● Maintain Term calendar
● Help organize the Teen Arts Showcase and other special projects/events
● Ensure the completion of the participant pre and post surveys
● Collaborate with instructors to plan, organize, and schedule visiting professionals and field trips
● Ensure all required data (i.e attendance, enrollment, surveys, stipend amounts, etc.) are entered into the appropriate database systems.
● Research and analyze data for program reports, grants, and project proposals
● Attend department team meetings
● Provide support for recruiting, interviewing, and retention initiatives
