Financial Analyst

Classification: Business Analyst
 

Work Hours: 40+ hours/week: M - F

About the Role: This position is ideal for an individual with a strong background in accounting, data analytics, and finance. The primary responsibility is to ensure high-quality financial business processes and controls. Daily tasks include reviewing financial reports, preparing monthly financial forecasts and long-range plans, managing vendor relationships, processing purchase orders and invoices, handling accounts receivable, and maintaining financial systems of record. Key activities involve developing and utilizing spreadsheet applications, learning and managing budgets within enterprise systems, performing data mining, writing reports, and analyzing and interpreting quantitative data. Additional responsibilities include recording general ledger entries, collaborating with various teams to report current and future financial data, and resolving issues through effective problem-solving. The ideal candidate must demonstrate exceptional attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and proficiency in analyzing financial information. They should also excel at interacting with diverse employee groups to maintain quality performance and provide excellent customer service. Flexibility is essential, as the role requires adaptability to changing priorities and the willingness to take on additional duties as needed.

 

Qualifications

 

Physical Requirements Sedentary Work - Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves mostly sitting but may involve walking or standing for periods of time. 

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or other related field from an accredited four-year college or university
  • Strong communication skills and detail-oriented
  • Ability to work with confidential information and exercise discretion
  • Experience and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Valid driver's license


 

Preferred Requirements

  • Five (5) years of experience in a related field
  • Experience working in a utility or regulated industry is highly preferred
  • Proven experience with budgeting, forecasting, and long-range financial planning
  • Experience and proficiency with PeopleSoft applications, including Financial Management System and Customer Information System Modules
  • Ability to demonstrate competencies such as leadership, coaching, and teamwork skills
