Junior Associate Attorney - Tax
Junior Associate Attorney – Tax
Brotman Law | Junior Associate Attorney
We are excited to welcome you to Brotman Law. All of your past experience has simply been preparing you for our mission and the opportunity that you are about to step into.
Our law firm seeks smart and talented professionals who are motivated by something greater and who value challenge and excellence over comfort. We are a high-growth, start-up-like culture that eschews the conventional law firm environment for one that is fast-paced, innovative, and collaborative. We value proactivity, tenacity, creativity, and a growth mindset. Most of all, we value great people, and we want to work with the best.
We are a culture that knows what it is like to win—for our clients, our Firm, and ourselves. Who knew that tax law could be synonymous with fun and excitement?
Our Firm focuses equally on providing tax strategy and defense for business owners, investors, and other successful people. Clients often need more than tax solutions: they need a partner who can see the playing field, address their broader challenges, and deliver strategic thinking and, ultimately, results. Our clients are equally growth-minded and successful and need advisors who can empathize and be on their level.
Most importantly, our Firm is growing rapidly, and we need people who are committed to contributing to the success of our organization for the benefit of all. We are building something special here.
About the Position:
• This is a Firm where we are all invested in the organization's growth. Team before self because we know that a rising tide floats all boats. As a professional, your value is more than client work, and your ideas and input toward the mission are welcomed, appreciated, and rewarded.
• Our organization’s growth depends on doing excellent work for clients, first-rate client service, and striving to provide as much value as possible to each client relationship. This is a very forward-facing position. You will be in constant communication with clients and the face of our engagements, not confined to a support role or a back office.
• Your success on client engagements depends on your ability to be flexible, multi-task, and wear a variety of different hats. Clients generally come to us with one issue, but often have multiple challenges that get addressed during the course of their matters. Success is defined by what is best for the client given the resources that they have and by the results we are able to achieve.
• This is a hybrid role with flexibility on location and working hours. Usually, we are in the office for two or three days a week and work from home the other days.
• Expected attorney output is roughly a nine-hour day (1750 annual billable hours), based on a 48-work week year and an 85% utilization rate.
• Through our Brotman Law: Your Way Program and Unlimited Vacation Time Off system, attorneys can design their workweek schedules. We maximize our people's flexibility and autonomy to meet the demands of the modern working world.
• We formally require at least 50 hours of professional learning annually and encourage our attorneys to be multi-disciplinary in their knowledge base.
• Based on our long-term vision, mission, and plan, there is an opportunity for significant compensation in the longer-term.
The Ideal Candidate
• You must be autonomously willing to learn, grow, and improve.
• You must be a nice, positive, personable, and selfless person.
• You are not content with mediocrity or comfort. In the past, perhaps you have run circles around others around you.
• You really enjoy people and being part of a team.
• You really enjoy clients and client work. You are empathetic, provide amazing client services, and are driven to get them results.
• You are interesting and have a diversity of experiences that has contributed to your unique perspective.
• You have a background in or a strong interest in tax.
• You are a licensed attorney, licensure in California is a plus, but not required.
• Your resume and your experience should demonstrate a track record of success in law school and other environments. It should indicate that you are growth-oriented and take on increasing challenges.
Compensation
• $95,000-$125,000 starting salary, based on experience and the value you can provide to our organization.
• Incentive bonuses, typically ranging from 10% to 20% of base salary.
• Remote work flexibility
• Awesome, industry-leading health, dental, and vision benefits
• 401(k) match
