Congressional Intern - Summer 2025

Congresswoman Sara Jacobs offers internships in her San Diego, CA office. These internships provide an opportunity for young adults to learn more about the workings of a congressional office and the legislative process.

Internships last approximately three to four months and are intended to be educational experiences. All selected interns are compensated and will have the choice between pay of $16.85 an hour, academic credit, or both. Selected interns must be available to work between 20-40 hours per week, Monday through Friday. 

For students with interests in public policy and government, an internship with a congressional office offers a unique opportunity to engage in the legislative process and interact with constituents.

As an intern, you will work with congressional staff from a variety of backgrounds on a diverse array of issues. You will also get to meet constituents from various organizations and backgrounds, hone your conversational skills, and answer requests for general information about the legislative branch and other inquiries.

In this position, you will be asked to assist with various administrative and legislative duties, facing new and different challenges daily. Serving as an intern is a fantastic introduction to Capitol Hill and you will gain first-hand experience in the inner workings of a congressional office.
