Manager: School Climate

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Responsible for supporting school sites and teachers through observation, coaching, and modeling restorative practices.  Actively assist schools to transition from punitive discipline models to restorative practices. Collaborate with school leaders and teachers to bolster efforts to increase the percentage of students who demonstrate the skills, habits, and mindsets most aligned to life success: perseverance, self-regulation, self-efficacy, social awareness, and sense of belonging.  

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Provide individual and team coaching for administrators and staff to develop restorative practice skills, including prevention, de-escalation, and intervention strategies.
  • Provides highly specialized consultation, guidance, and observation of school sites and classrooms and provides feedback to promote or improve student skills, habits, and mindsets both by prepared reports or presentations.
  • Collaborate across district departments and with school teams to align and integrate restorative practice efforts with a focus on conflict resolution and prevention.
  • Develop and implement and progress monitor data-driven action plans and processes that promote safe and supportive school climates.
  • Plan, design, develop and deliver professional development PLCs, workshops, and training as needed for school leaders, Deans of Students, and teachers at elementary, middle, and high school levels that support district-wide initiatives and models.
  • Provide educational needs assessments to support school sites and teachers and coordinate an appropriate plan of action/services.
  • Facilitate conversations through a lens of cultural and linguistic responsiveness, restorative practice, and skills, habits, and mindsets.
  • Provides independent technical advice, consultation, and individualized assistance to educators within an area of professional specialty (ie. Functional Behavioral Assessment, and Behavior Improvement Plans, etc.).

PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND EXPERIENCE:

Preferred Knowledge, Skills & Abilities.

  • Master’s degree in education or related field or nine years of progressively related experience in student, staff, and/or family support.
  • Experience with project management.
  • Ability to analyze processes and make recommendations for improvement.
  • Ability to observe, assess, and interpret student needs and make appropriate recommendations.
  • Knowledge of social emotional learning methodologies.
  • Knowledge of behavioral and trauma informed strategies.
  • Knowledge of student success systems/early warning systems.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in education or related field and two years of related experience, or high school diploma and seven years of experience.
  • Experience developing, conducting, and delivering or facilitating effective presentations.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to give constructive feedback.
  • High level of competence in facilitation and communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of restorative practices.
  • Ability to travel to school sites.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Google Suite, Zoom, and other education-related technology tools.
