The Mobile Source Laboratory Division (MSLD) is seeking an Air Pollution Specialist (APS) for the Equipment Support Section (ESS). The mission of the ESS is to provide expertise in the maintenance, repair, failure diagnosis and resolution of problems with dynamometers, laboratory testing, sampling, measurement and calibration equipment and their interaction with laboratory infrastructure, and test cell automation systems. Under general direction of the Air Resources Supervisor I, the APS would be responsible for coordinating and performing the work of the Section, including the initial evaluation of staff capabilities in the operation of testing, sampling, measurement and calibration equipment, and the identification of training needs for staff to obtain the knowledge, skills and abilities needed to bridge the knowledge gap between test cell, QA/QC, and contracted on-site support personnel to quickly resolve issues preventing the utilization of test cells per CFR requirements.

Working Conditions

This position is not currently eligible for telework. The incumbent will be required to report to the position’s designated headquarters location, as indicated on their duty statement, at their own expense.

• Daily use of a personal computer, office equipment, and/or telephone.
• Must be able to move/transport testing equipment weighing up to 30 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Safety footwear required when working in some areas of the laboratory.
