ARTS Oil City Part-Time Summer Intern

ARTS Oil City is an economic development initiative focused on marketing Oil City as a prospective home for relocating artists throughout the country. ARTS Oil City also provides a supportive network for native and relocated performing and visual artists and helps to promote and facilitate ongoing arts-related engagement with the community, such as performances, exhibitions, artist residencies, and arts education opportunities.

Oil City is home to a thriving visual, performing, musical, and literary arts community. Since starting the arts revitalization program, over 100 creative professionals have chosen to relocate to our community to pursue their artistic careers. ARTS Oil City operates under the parent nonprofit, The Oil Region Alliance, alongside Oil City Mainstreet.

ARTS Oil City has an opportunity for one part-time summer 2025 student intern. The intern will work with the program manager to assist with marketing projects, special events, and regular office operations. The internship experience will offer exposure to career opportunities for artists and other creative professionals, best practices in marketing, arts as a catalyst for community engagement and economic development, and general experience in a professional, non-profit office environment.

Projects and Learning Opportunities include:

  • Assist with planning, graphic design, and promotion of Artists Sunday2025
  • Assist with history tracking of artists relocated to the community
  • Assist with weekly social media marketing
  • Develop and maintain media monitoring notebooks
  • Assist with website updates on Word platform
  • General office assistance and projects
  • Creation of a digital newsletter using ConstantContact
  • Develop wayfinding signage and artist studio directory using Affinitydesign software
  • Assist with projects for the National Transit Building Artist Studios. Interact with artists to learn about their work for marketing purposes.Create short videos for website and social media marketing.

Work Schedule: The internship will be 8-12 hours per week, with a regular schedule to be determined. If the selected candidate is also a candidate for one of those positions, the position can be combined with another part-time internship within Oil City Main Street or Oil Region Alliance.

  • Have strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Be a creative thinker and problem solver
  • Able to work independently and as a team player
  • Enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program in a related field

Job Specific Requirements:

  • General proficiency in the computer is essential
  • Qualified candidates must have excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Experience in Adobe Photoshop and InDesign or Affinity software is helpful
  • Understanding of social media marketing is important
  • Photography, videography, and modern communication platforms are a plus
