Worship Resident
Position Overview
The Worship Resident position is a full-time, 1-3 year program designed to equip and empower new leaders with a passion and calling for worship ministry in the Local Church. A Residency at Grace Church is full-time leadership and pastoral ministry position under the direction of an experienced Pastor, while simultaneously pursing a Master's degree at Grace Seminary. They will also enjoy the learning community of Interns and Residents throughout the campuses of Grace Church.
Residents carry significant leadership responsibilities, often leading and developing entire programs or initiatives, and each residency is crafted to the gifts and experience of the individual. They are expected to have substantial experience around Worship, and often already completed at least one internship. The Worship Resident will gain practical experience in all aspects of leading and facilitating a worship ministry while receiving mentorship and opportunities for spiritual development. The hours of this position will be flexible, both in the office and out, to facilitate a “24/7 mentality” of ministry.
Essential Job Functions
- Actively pursuing a seminary degree through the Grace Seminary, Akron. Tuition fully paid by Grace Church.
- Weekend Services
- Actively participate in weekend worship services, including planning set lists, rehearsing with musicians, playing/leading regularly, and contributing to the overall worship experience.
- Recruit, train, and build volunteer teams.
- Serve, work with, and train Tech teams and volunteers for a broad understanding of leadership and production.
- Music & Creative Development
- Explore, develop, and implement creative elements and technologies in worship services.
- Contribute to the songwriting and arranging process for new worship music.
- Contribute to the team's musical growth by sourcing and evaluating new material.
- Assist in the production of recordings and other media projects.
- Leadership & Mentorship
- Participate in leadership meetings and planning sessions.
- Receive mentorship and guidance from experienced worship leaders and pastors, including direct mentorship from Supervisor.
- Potentially lead and mentor small groups or teams within the church.
- Pastoral Care
- Participate in pastoral care activities, such as hospital visits, prayer meetings, and counseling sessions (as appropriate).
- Develop a heart for pastoral ministry and learn how to care for the spiritual needs of the congregation.
- Spiritual Formation
- Engage in regular and purposeful evangelism.
- Engage in regular spiritual disciplines, such as prayer, Bible study, and personal reflection.
- Participate in church-wide events and activities.
- Seek opportunities for personal and spiritual growth.
General Requirements
- A committed and faithful attendee of the Grace Church campus of which you are employed.
- Adheres to and supports the vision and philosophy of Grace Church and its leadership, including the Statement of Faith and Staff Creed.
- Have attended or is in the process of attending the campus introduction classes within the first six months of hire.
- Has a teachable spirit and servant’s heart (Philippians 2:1-11).
- Will care for others by appropriately praying with, consoling, speaking of Christ and/or sharing scripture. Always concerned about the spiritual welfare of others. (I John 5:14)
- Growing in faith as a believer in Christ (2 Peter 1:5-11). Has a solid understanding of biblical community including participating in on-going biblical community at Grace Church.
- Is a good steward of the Lord’s money; uses time and resources wisely with the giver’s sacrifice in mind (2 Corinthians 8).
- Will serve teammates and the whole of Grace Church sacrificially as part of one united team, serving together.
- Handles confidential matters and material with integrity and an intuitive understanding of sensitive ministry information. Communicates information to pastoral staff as appropriate.
- Is proficient and confident in computer skills that include the programs of Microsoft Office; willing to learn in-house management systems.
