Position Overview: The Communications Intern will support our communications team in executing strategic initiatives to enhance Lone Star Justice Alliance's public-facing presence and engage our target audience. This role offers hands-on experience in various aspects of communications, including internal communications, public relations, storytelling, content creation, and social media management.
Key Responsibilities:
• Assist in drafting and editing internal and external communications materials, including newsletters, press releases, blog posts, and social media content. • Monitor media outlets for articles LSJA was a part of or quoted in. • Support the organization and execution of company events, including webinars, conferences, and internal meetings. Maintain and update media lists, databases, and archives.
• Conduct research to support communications planning and strategy development. • Assist with social media efforts, including content creation, scheduling, and community engagement/education.
• Provide general administrative support to the ReImagine Justice department as needed.
Qualifications:
• Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and familiarity with social media platforms.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. • Prior internship experience in communications, marketing, or related fields is a plus.
• Knowledge of AP style is desirable but not required.
• Knowledge of Canva and basic graphic design skills are desirable but not required.
