Salary: $4,000 (June 22, 2025 - August 1, 2025)
General Responsibilities - To supervise counseling staff and ensure that children are properly cared for.
1. Involvement in the total camp program with willingness to help in all areas as needed, including dining room, campfire programs, children with problems, evening programs, etc.
2. Promote observance of the spiritual emphasis of the program and the moral and ethical code affecting campers and staff.
3. Attend and contribute at staff meetings.
4. Responsible for sharing with Camp Director all matters of mutual concern relating to the total welfare of the camp.
5. Responsible to observe set curfew.
Minimum Qualifications
• A personal relationship with Jesus Christ and a desire to share your faith with others
• College student of at least 21 years of age
• College degree and/or equivalent experience in camping; preferably at Star Lake
• Minimum of one year of camp supervisory experience
• Minimum of one year administrative and supervisory experience in a field other than camping
• Ability to assume responsibility of Assistant Program Director in their absence
• Desire and ability to work with children and adults outdoors
• Self-motivated, responsible an independent worker, and organized
• Ability to relate to one’s peer group
• Ability to accept supervision
• Good character, integrity, and adaptability
• Enthusiasm, sense of humor, patience, and self-control
• Current CPR and first aid certifications
Specific Responsibilities
1. Cabin assignments: assign Counselors to cabin with assistance and direction of the Camper Consultant.
2. Overall supervision of Counselors. This is to include scheduling cabin coverage, conflict resolution, and in-service training. Communicate daily with Camp Director any issues related to the counselors.
3. Assume responsibility for overseeing the scheduling of time-off for all counselor staff.
4. Coordinate evening programs as assigned by Program Director.
5. Do employee evaluations for Counselors under your supervision at the end of the second and fourth sessions.
6. Ensure that all Counselors complete their camper’s reports.
7. Share responsibility for routine chores between camping sessions.
8. Help plan and conduct staff meetings.
9. Awaken campers and staff on time, know and communicate proper attire for the day and activity.
10. Conduct or delegate responsibility for inspection of cabins and areas.
11. Visit cabins regularly during the day as a supervisory tool, but also to provide opportunity to get to know campers and staff.
12. Be knowledgeable about the eating habits and diets of campers.
13. Monitor counselor and camper assignments for the day.
14. Correct or reprimand staff as soon as possible (in private), for actions that put health and safety of a camper at risk. Document all written and verbal warnings.
15. Make sure camper T-shirt order forms are collected and given into the Administration Office for distribution.
16. Check with and excuse counselors from the group at campers’ curfew and after campers are in bed.
17. In the event an activity counselor is ill, or their employment is terminated, lead the activity temporarily.
18. Write an evaluative brief at the end of each session to include areas of concern for next camping session/season. Make recommendations for equipment, supplies, and program.
Additional Responsibilities
1. Aid and support to all program areas as assigned.
2. Assist Program Director in planning and preparation for total –camp activities.
3. Assist with preparation of tabernacle and other buildings for opening and closing days,
and other special programs. Preparation includes cleaning, moving chairs, sweeping, and
vacuuming.
4. Assist with the registration and departure of campers.
5. Take part in evening programs as assigned by Program Director.
6. Arrive at least ten minutes early to scheduled activity periods, evening programs, evening
recreation, meetings, etc., to assist or lead in set-up or preparation of programs.
7. Attend and participate in weekly leadership staff meetings.

Staff Responsibilities

7. Pray that each camper comes to know Christ as Savior.
8. Attend weekly staff Bible studies. These take place one evening per session.
9. Attend Sunday morning staff worship.
10. Voice criticisms to the Camp Director first.
11. Be in accord with camp aims and policies, being loyal to camp always.
12. Assist where needed for the benefit of the campers and the smooth operation of the camp.
13. Respond positively to the direction of the Program Director when he/she makes schedule changes.
Essential Responsibilities
1. Ability to participate fully in the total camp program*.
2. Ability to communicate and work with groups of various ages and skills levels, and provide necessary instruction to campers and/or staff.
3. Physical ability to respond appropriately and quickly to situations requiring first aid.
4. Cognitive and communicative abilities to plan and conduct activities that achieve camper development objectives.
5. Ability to identify and respond to hazards. Must be able to assist campers in emergency (fire, evacuation, illness, or injury).
6. Respond immediately to assigned area in the event of a missing camper alarm.
- These are not the only duties to be performed. Some duties may be reassigned, and other duties may be assigned as required.
*Please note that full participation means that although you may not have an assigned responsibility you are required to attend and participate in the various daily programs of camp, such as evening programs, camper worship, cabin devotions, etc…
