Job Description

This position exists to maintain the skilled nursing laboratory total learning environment. This includes but is not limited to the procurement of supplies and learning tools, maintenance of existing equipment, open learning labs and assisting with Clinical high-definition simulation.

Responsibilities

 

Customer Service.

On a daily basis, live the mission, vision and values of M State to ensure a positive experience for all students and stakeholders.  Service to M State students and stakeholders is a core component of the position and work responsibilities.

 

Maintain the Skills Lab Learning Environment. 

  • Under limited supervision organize and maintain the utilization of the skills laboratory. 
  • This position will prepare for nursing classes throughout each semester, organize laboratory activities with nursing faculty, staff and student workers, maintain inventory, assist nursing faculty with ordering supplies, monitor equipment repair and safety, and provide work directions and coordinate schedules for student lab workers. Perform an ongoing skills lab inventory. 
  • Evaluate overall operations of the skills lab activities and hours. Provides input to determine future equipment and student needs for the skills lab. Assist in the development, implementation, and at least biannual review of simulation/learning lab policies and procedures that use evidence-based practices in nursing simulation education.

 

High Fidelity Simulation.

  • Assist the nursing faculty in use of high-fidelity simulation. 
  • Operate technology during select simulation experiences. 
  • Maintain lab and simulation supplies and equipment. Serve as the liaison and contact for laboratory & simulation supply and equipment vendors in conjunction with program coordinator and nursing department chair.

 

Student Learning Support.

  • Provide orientation to the skills lab for all nursing students. 
  • Collaborate with nursing faculty, serving as a resource to students and faculty
  • Help implement innovative, evidence informed nursing practices in the skills lab. 
  • Hire, coordinate, schedule, provide work direction to, and train student workers assigned to the lab.
  • Assess the need for student worker assistance and make recommendations to the department nursing chair and program coordinator.

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Post-secondary or industry certificate/diploma/degree or relevant licensure in Nursing or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge, skill, and experience with the operation of laboratory and learning equipment and medical equipment and supplies. 
  • Experience with database management (e.g., equipment and supplies inventory) and general computer skills
  • Ability to evaluate overall operations of skills lab activities and hours, organize laboratory activities, and work effectively and professionally with faculty, staff, and student workers.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform professionally in a fast paced, complex environment
  • Demonstrated ability to work in an institution with diverse populations

 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in a health-related field 
  • Nursing degree or knowledge of basic concepts, principles, and practices within nursing practice
  • Knowledge of nursing materials and processes sufficient to instruct others in proper use, and perform routine maintenance
  • Demonstrated ability to work with students in an education setting - teaching/tutoring/mentoring experience at the high school level or above
  • Experience with simulation-related technology, video recording, and human patient simulators
  • Experience in the development and review of policies, processes and procedures

 

Work Shift (Hours / Days of work)

  • 40 hours per week, Monday-Friday 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

Salary

This is the correct salary range for this position, disregard the full range listed by this website: $23.63 - $34.18 per hour or $49,339 - $71,368 annually.
