Electrical Engineering Intern
Wasatch Photonics is a manufacturer of spectrometers for Raman Spectroscopy and Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT). Electrical Engineers are at the heart of designing new instruments, creating circuits and PCBs for detector control, laser control, thermal management, battery management, wired and wireless communication, etc.
Wasatch Photonics is looking to hire an Electrical Engineering Intern for summer 2025 (roughly June-August). The position will be on-site at our manufacturing center in Morrisville, NC (part of Raleigh-Durham's Research Triangle Park).
Interns will have the opportunity to work alongside Ph.D.-level experts across a variety of fields including optics, physics, chemistry, and machine learning while participating in full-cycle product design spanning requirements, implementation, testing, release to manufacturing and post-delivery support.
Responsibilities
- Use Altium Designer to update PCB schematics, footprints and BOMs
- Perform soldering and board re-work
- Probe hardware under test to validate voltages, current and timing signals
- Compare schematics and BOMs
Skills
- Prior use of Altium Designer
- Basic knowledge of analog and digital circuits
- Familiarity with PCB design
- Soldering experience
- Experience with oscilloscopes, digital multi-meters and other electrical tools
- Familiarity with office software (Excel, Google Docs etc)
Education
- Rising Junior, Senior, or graduate student in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or similar track with a desire to grow their skills in Hardware Design
