Lifeguard – Hawaiian Waters, The Colony

Position Type: Seasonal | Pay: $11.50/hr up to $13.50 | Safety-Sensitive: Yes

Position Overview

Under direct supervision, the Lifeguard ensures the safety of guests by monitoring pool areas, responding to emergencies, and enforcing park rules. This role also includes operating aquatic attractions and supporting park beautification efforts, such as trash collection and bathroom maintenance. No prior experience is required—free lifeguard training is provided to successful applicants.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain constant surveillance of assigned zones to ensure guest safety. 
• Respond quickly and effectively to emergencies, performing in-water rescues, CPR, and first aid as needed. 
• Enforce park policies fairly, cautioning guests about unsafe behavior. 
• Operate aquatic attractions and waterslides in compliance with the Alive Solutions Training Program. 
• Provide exceptional guest service by assisting visitors and answering inquiries. 
• Participate in a minimum of four hours of monthly training to maintain lifeguard skills. 
• Support park beautification efforts, including trash collection and bathroom upkeep. 
• Assist with additional tasks and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

• Minimum age: 16 
• Ellis & Associates Special Facilities Lifeguard Certification (provided free to successful applicants) 
• Flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays 
• Strong communication and teamwork skills 
• Ability to lift 25+ lbs., stand for extended periods, and work in various weather conditions

Physical Requirements

• Swim 200 yards using front crawl (freestyle) or breaststroke without resting 
• Perform a feet-first surface dive, retrieve a 10-lb. brick , and bring to the surface 
• Exit pools without a ladder and jump from varying heights 
• Work outdoors, climb stairs, and perform physical tasks like kneeling, bending, and lifting
