
CTEP AmeriCorps Member
CTEP AmeriCorps anticipates placing 20 members with 18 nonprofit organizations, media access centers, teen technology centers and libraries in Minneapolis and St. Paul.
Service Types CTEP offers three service types over a 12 month commitment.
- Full-Time: minimum of 1,700 hours or 35 hours per week
- Three-Quarter-Time: minimum of 1,200 hours or 25 hours per week
- Half-Time: serve a minimum of 900 hours or 18 hours per week
What You Get to Do:
- Using the Nationally recognized Northstar Digital Literacy Curriculum, teach basic technology skills (e.g. send email, create documents, navigate the internet, basic cybersecurity). Teach community members how to tells stories using our professional media equipment, video editing software, smart phone kits and podcast studio.
- Assess and prepare interested learners for certification in the Northstar Digital Literacy Standards, Microsoft Office Specialist, or Google Suite and Media Making. Proctor online testing.
- Research and develop additional curriculum based on learner needs
- Collect and report learner performance data
- Help strengthen technology and media programming through guided research and program development
- Help identify volunteers for your host site or help manage existing ones.
Benefits:
Members receive a monthly living allowance up to $1,923 per month (pre-tax) depending on service type. Full time members receive health insurance with premium paid, free mental health services with counseling, student loan forbearance on eligible loans, and an education award of $7,395 for education expenses or qualified student loans.

What We Need From You:
- High school diploma or GED
- Be a U.S. citizen, naturalized citizen, or permanent resident (required)
- Commitment to serve for 12 months
- Ability to use and understand smartphones, computers, software and the internet.
- Demonstrated experience conveying complex topics to low- or non-skilled learners
- Passion for making a difference in the lives of others
- Experience working with people from diverse backgrounds
- Bilingual in Somali, Oromo, Spanish, Hmong, or Vietnamese is highly desired
