Interior Design Assistant

Interior Design Assistant (1099, Flexible Schedule) – DawnElise Interiors

Location: Fort Lauderdale, FL (Travel Required) Schedule: Minimum 25 hours per week, Monday–Friday (8 AM–5 PM), with some evenings and weekends as needed. Employment Type: 1099 Independent Contractor

DawnElise Interiors is a high-end interior design firm specializing in creating ‘livable luxury.’ We are seeking a talented and driven Interior Design Assistant to support our design team and serve as a brand liaison at South Florida industry events. This is an exciting opportunity for an aspiring designer to gain hands-on experience in luxury residential design while developing industry connections.

Key Responsibilities:

Client & Project Support

  • Attend meetings and appointments, take detailed notes/photos, and transcribe key points in real-time via phone, tablet, or laptop.
  • Prepare client presentations, including mood boards using Canva or PowerPoint.
  • Provide CAD drawings and 3D renderings for smaller projects.
  • Utilize Photoshop/SketchUp as needed for project visualizations.
  • Proofread ID drawings, spreadsheets, presentations, and documents for accuracy.
  • Assist with design selection and oversight on smaller projects.

Brand Liaison & Social Media

  • Represent DawnElise Interiors at South Florida design and networking events to promote brand awareness and make industry connections.
  • Gather content for social media, take photos, and share insights from industry events.
  • Scout new furniture and decor, vendors, contractors, artisans, and potential clients.

Research & Development

  • Research new vendors and products, maintain vendor database (Google Sheets), and organize showroom visits.
  • Arrange and attend sales presentations, reporting back to the team.

Logistics & Operations

  • Pick up and return material samples; transport heavy samples as needed.
  • Meet deliveries on job sites, take measurements, provide updates, and document project progress.
  • Maintain and organize the office sample library, ensuring all materials are current and labeled.
  • Oversee storage space, inventory, merchandise returns, and office supply replenishment.
  • General errands and administrative support, including scheduling and correspondence with vendors and clients.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Degree in Interior Design (required).
  • Proficiency in CAD, 3D rendering, Photoshop, SketchUp, and Canva/PowerPoint.
  • Reliable transportation (own vehicle) and willingness to travel across South Florida and beyond.
  • Outgoing personality, comfortable attending social events alone and making professional connections.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and ability to transcribe meetings in real-time.
  • Desire to build a long-term career in interior design.
  • Availability for at least 25 hours per week during business hours, plus occasional evenings/weekends.
  • Ability to lift and transport materials and samples as needed.
