
Dietary Assistant
JOB SUMMARY:
The Dietary Assistant works in support of the multidisciplinary treatment team under the direction of the Registered Dietician to execute the goals of the nutrition care plan to meet patients’ nutrition needs following best practice standards.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- Preferred knowledge of food hygiene, preparation, service, and service management
- Preferred current or prior enrollment in nutrition/dietetics coursework
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Coordinate with Registered Dietician the planning and implementation of patient menus.
- Prepare meals by following established recipes, prepping ingredients, portioning food, and ensuring proper food temperatures.
- Follow dietary restrictions for residents with allergies or other special needs, ensuring meals are tailored to their individual plans.
- Ensure proper table setting.
- Maintaining cleanliness in the kitchen and dining area by washing dishes, wiping down surfaces, sweeping floors, and properly disposing of trash.
- Practice proper hand hygiene, food storage, and temperature control, maintaining food safety standards.
- Provide daily meal and snack support for patients in coordination with Mental Health Coaches and Registered Dietitian
- Assist in food procurement including food ordering and grocery shopping
- Complete all required documentation and reports in a timely manner, maintaining compliance with the policies and procedures of Charis Eating Disorder Care
- Demonstrate accountability for the proper use of patients’ protected health information
- Participate in scheduled in-services and other appropriate training activities
- Utilize supervisory feedback to improve performance
- Perform other duties as assigned

- Effectively convey the mission of Charis Eating Disorder Care, the purpose of Charis Eating Disorder Care’s ministry, and the importance of Biblically-based treatment for eating disorders
- Appropriately respond to inquiries about the nature of Charis Eating Disorder Care’s mission
- Ability to model a Biblically-based, Christ-centered lifestyle, on and off campus, providing an example to patients, families, staff, public, and professionals
- Ability to organize tasks by priority and multitask efficiently
