About Gallatin County Public Library

Gallatin County Public Library is a community hub, dedicated to the learning, enjoyment, and connection of the people of Gallatin County, Kentucky. We provide a welcoming space for discovery, creativity, and engagement—offering programs that range from literacy initiatives to digital content creation. We collaborate with local organizations to enrich our community and seek interns who want to gain real-world experience while making a meaningful impact.

Some Possible Assignments as a Library Intern:

✔ Assist with Digital Content & Marketing – Help produce and promote the GCPL Podcast, manage social media, and develop outreach materials.
✔ Support Community Engagement – Assist with library programming, special events, and our weekly Farmers’ Market, featuring over 30 vendors.
✔ Gain Library & Research Experience – Learn how libraries operate, from assisting patrons to organizing resources.
✔ Develop Transferable Skills – Build experience in customer service, event planning, communication, and public service.

Qualifications & Skills

✅ Currently enrolled in college (preferred fields: Library Science, Communications, Marketing, Education, Public Relations, Nonprofit Management, or related fields).
✅ Strong written and verbal communication skills with an interest in storytelling, research, and digital content.
✅ Self-motivated and organized, able to take initiative in projects.
✅ Comfortable engaging with the public in both in-person and digital settings.
