Partners for Rural Transformation (PRT) 

Remote Internship

April 1, 2025 – March 30, 2026

PRT is a coalition of six community organizations working to launch economic development innovations to achieve socioeconomic equity in rural America. Through advocacy, capital access, and strategic partnerships, PRT empowers rural entrepreneurs, helps families secure affordable housing, provides disaster adaptability and recovery, improves water systems, and strengthens local economies. To date, PRT has mobilized over $1 billion in persistently poor regions. We’ve created and retained tens of thousands of jobs and invested millions into small businesses owned by women and people of color.

Job Summary:

This Internship will be a part-time role (not to exceed 20 hours per week) and will be 100% remote. The primary role of the PRT Intern will be to assist in implementing major initiatives in partnership with the PRT Staff.  The secondary role includes activities, events, and efforts related to PRT's work: advocacy, communications, grant and impact reporting, and research for both internal and external audiences. The Intern selected will network and collaborate with members of PRT’s Working Groups in monthly meetings, as well as work on individual projects and tasks as needed by the PRT Staff. The intern will be expected to report to the Vice President of PRT Operations weekly to discuss progress. Interns will be expected to have a passion and curiosity for nonprofit collaboration and collaborative models, rural America, and community development. 

This role is funded through a specific grant, and while it offers a unique opportunity to make a significant impact, please note that the position is contingent upon continued grant funding. As such, the duration of employment may be limited.

Essential Duties and Functions:

  • Assist in implementing major initiatives that will contribute to the future impact of Partners for Rural Transformation
  • Consider and accommodate Partnership when completing deliverables
  • Communicate and collaborate with members of all Working Groups and PRT staff to accomplish tasks, assisting with the creation of agendas and meeting notes
  • Assist with communications through social media production, via writing and graphic design (if applicable in experience with Canva), management of weekly newsletter, and assistance with blogs
  • Assist with scheduling assigned meetings, and be an active participant in all assigned meetings
  • Keeping track of pertinent current events that affect PRT’s work and regions of focus and reporting relevant events or research to the appropriate PRT staff
  • Plan and participate in activities such as webinars and trainings on behalf of the PRT Team
  • Track past and current deliverables, files, tasks, and progress of PRT efforts in various systems, like Planner, SharePoint, etc.
  • Ensure tasks assigned to groups are progressing in a timely manner
  • Other tasks as assigned
  • Report progress weekly to Vice President of PRT Operations

Requirements for this position include: 

  • Strong organizational skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.)
  • Communication Skills (written and verbal)
  • Creativity
  • Curiosity and willingness to learn

Extra Considerations for this position include:

  • Graphic design experience with Canva
  • Experience in analyzing data and/or policies

Preferred Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Currently working towards obtaining a secondary or post-secondary Degree in a related field
