Nourish West Virginia Graduate Student Worker (9721818)

Duties and Responsibilities:

Assist in the preparation and submission of an Institutional Review Board (IRB) application for selected projects.

Assist with NWV project development and evaluation.

Assist in the preparation and submission of a grant proposal. 

Assist with conducting a critical review of the literature and analyzing and synthesizing relevant literature needed for the development of evaluation frameworks, journal manuscript submission, and other scholarly.

Assist with the development of training guides and plans, and interview guides.

Perform qualitative and quantitative data collection, methodologies, and analyses (e.g., survey tool development, key informant interviews, focus group sessions, descriptive statistics, data transcription etc.).

Assist in the development of presentations (e.g., Microsoft Powerpoint) for conferences, webinars, forums, and other scholarly platforms.

Actively participate in Research Action Team meetings with the Nourish West Virginia Research and Data Team. 

Actively collaborate with Nourish West Virginia staff and research team. 

Attend subcontractor and partner meetings as necessary.

Assist in providing technical assistance to multilevel stakeholders. 

Construct data key and data dictionary.

Data entry.

Minimum Qualifications

Currently enrolled in a WVU Masters degree program in public health, food systems, agriculture, or any other related field.

A minimum of one (1) year experience in performing qualitative and/or quantitative methodologies and analyses. 

A minimum of one (1) year experience in data entry (e.g., Excel spreadsheet).

Ability to conduct a critical review of the literature.

Ability to construct and develop presentations for conferences, webinars, forums, and other scholarly platforms.

Knowledgeable about food systems, urban and rural agriculture, public health, community-based approaches, community health and/or rural health.

Ability to set, coordinate, and plan schedules, work independently, and collect, organize, and analyze information. Must have the ability to independently set priorities in a logical and efficient manner.

Preferred Qualifications 

Enrolled in a WVU Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree program in public health, food systems, agriculture or any other related field.

Experience in implementing systems thinking approaches. 

Experience in conducting a needs assessment. 

Experience in project and/or program evaluation.

Experience creating or maintaining training materials, guidebooks, or stakeholder interview guides.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Duties are performed under general direction and moderate supervision.

Duties are varied and may require independent problem-solving and specialized knowledge of a discipline, or technical abilities.

Ability to carry out responsibilities and assignments independently including problem solving.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.

Demonstrated ability to analyze data, write effectively, and present results of peer-reviewed, scientific, and other literature.

Ability to be detail and deadline-oriented.

Demonstrated ability to operate a computer utilizing Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Power Point) and other software applications for reports, graphs, mailings and presentation development.

Demonstrated ability in scholarly writing and presentation of research results.

Thorough knowledge of proper English, grammar, spelling, punctuation, and sentence structure.

Ability to set, coordinate, and plan schedules, work independently, and collect, organize, and analyze information. Must have the ability to independently set priorities in a logical and efficient manner.
