MAC YMCA Child Care Classroom Intern
The Classroom Intern works closely with the Lead Teacher to facilitate classroom activities, plan and prepare classroom curriculum, and prepare weekly newsletters for parents. The Child Care Classroom Intern provides direct service to the MAC YMCA students and members while modeling the Code of Conduct and MAC YMCA Mission Statement. MAC YMCA Childcare provides care weekdays from 6:00am to 5:30 pm for infants through 5 years old. This is a non-exempt position according to FLSA regulations.
This position is for federal work-study eligible students only.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Answer the room phone and tablet messages when in the classroom.
- Monitor sign-in and sign-out process.
- Keep activity material area stocked and organized.
- Support students in accomplishing their school work.
- Proctor and support STEM activities
- Assist in snack and meal monitoring
- Assist in recruitment of Susquehanna University students for volunteering at the MAC YMCA programs.
- Oversee, model, and monitor adherence to the Code of Conduct

This student worker position is located off campus at Middlecreek Area Community YMCA.

Additional Requirements:
- This position is paid $10.00 per hour with estimated 10 hours per week.
- Must be able to provide clearances for PA Child Abuse Clearance, PA State Police Clearance, and FBI Fingerprinting Check (for those who have lived outside of the state of PA within the last 10 years).
- This position is for federal work-study eligible students only.
Physical Demand
- Position requires the ability to stand or sit for extended periods of time.
- Position requires occasional manual dexterity and the ability to use fingers, hands, and arms to feel, handle, and reach.
- Position requires occasional stooping, crouching, and bending.
