JC-468169 - Budget Analyst

The California Department of Public Health (CDPH) is dedicated to advancing the health and well-being of California's diverse people and communities. The Financial Management Division (FMD), within the CDPH Administration, is responsible for the preparation, analysis, and management of the Department’s budget, maintenance of accounting records and financial data, and acts as the liaison with the Department of Finance (DOF), Legislative Analyst’s Office, Legislative Budget staff, and the federal government on budget and fiscal matters affecting the Department.

This position supports the California Department of Public Health’s (CDPH) mission and strategic plan by independently performing the more responsible, varied, and complex technical analytical and consultative work for the Financial Management Division (FMD), Budget Section.

The Associate Governmental Program Analyst (AGPA) is responsible for developing, implementing, monitoring, and maintaining a variety of the more complex analytical work for one or more CDPH Centers, Divisions, Offices (CDOs), or programs. The AGPA researches, analyzes, and applies appropriate processes available to programs for the overall administration, oversight, and monitoring of their budget; consults and coordinates with CDPH program and FMD staff; and makes recommendations to CDPH executive management.

The SSA classification is distinguished from the AGPA classification by the scope of responsibility, complexity of work performed, independence of action, decision-making, and level of supervision received. This classification consists of three alternate ranges and as the SSA advances within the classification ranges, their responsibilities are expected to show broader knowledge of the work environment, and organizational and/or departmental requirements while the scope of work increases.

  • Possess mature judgement, poise, tact, and discretion.
