
2025-2026 School Year Alumni Coordinator
The Alumni Coordinator will support the transition of all LFDCS graduates to high school and track student progress to ensure positive experiences and retention. The Alumni Coordinator will create outreach mechanisms and gatherings to reunite alumni in age-appropriate groups (9th grade; 9-12; college and beyond) to reconnect alumni to LFDCS and participation opportunities that build allegiances and support the school.
Responsibilities:
- Work with the Secondary School Coordinators and “Opening Doors” staff to build relationships with all 7th and 8th grade students and assist with a positive high school transition.
- Build/strengthen connections to area and New England secondary school for smooth transition of 9th grade students and ongoing communication with school administrators to support retention and understand any barrier to success including emergency financial issues.
- Establish communication with each LFDCS Scholar (scholarship recipients) and hold quarterly visits/meetings to assess academic progress and adjustment to high school.
- Alumni Coordinator will determine if students at each school are taking advantage of advising and tutoring services provided by their high schools and asking for assistance as needed. This support should continue at least through the first half of the 10th grade.
- Create and manage a Freshman Alumni orientation—a gathering of 9th grade students in mid-October to remind them of scholarship requirements and procedures for community service. This is also an opportunity for new graduates to re-bond with one another.
- Oversee the community service expectation of LFDCS Scholars. Scholarship recipients sign contracts which include academic progress, attendance and community service. Alumni Coordinator will arrange for service opportunities at LFDCS (and create additional service opportunities), track attendance and compliance with expectations.
- The Alumni Coordinator will communicate with all alumni to build a current database and ongoing connections of alumni to the school. Using a variety of social media/social network, the Alumni Coordinator will keep all alumni updated on progress of LFDCS and invite their participation in a variety of events which support LFDCS and continue their allegiance to the school These may include: Career Month speakers, Science Fair judges, Read Across America readers, attendance at special activities, service on school board, broadening donor base.
- Coordinate annual Alumni reunions for age-appropriate groups: 9-12 students, college and beyond.
- Work with Website Administrator to build and maintain alumni website.
Experience/Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Counseling/Education or related field
- Minimum 3 years’ experience working with middle school students and/or high school students
- Proven ability to communicate with adults and students
- Exceptional communication, organization and time management skills
- Experience working with different stakeholder constituencies: middle school students, teachers, parents, high school administrators, community leaders.
- Excellent computer/social networking experience skills
- Experience facilitating, coordinating and implementing program activities
- Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
Schedule: Full-Time, School-Year Position. Exempt Position.
