Caseworker 1 Northern Dauphin

This is a merit hire position. The pay rate for this position is $21.50. This position is covered by a Collective Bargaining Agreement. Dauphin County Children & Youth Services is currently accepting applications for the full-time position of Caseworker 1 in the Northern Dauphin office in Elizabethville, PA. The Caseworker 1 performs social service and case management supportive services to children, youth, and families, and others to assist them in attaining a more satisfactory social, economic, emotional, or physical adjustment.  The work assigned is limited in scope and difficulty, and is performed under close supervision, but as knowledge and skills are acquired, more latitude in judgment and decision making is permitted.  Work is performed under the close supervision of a professional social service or administrative supervisor and is reviewed through individual and group conferences, assignment of professional reading, attendance at training programs, and the reading of records and reports.

Minimum Education, Experience and Training Requirements:

 

  • A bachelor's degree which includes or is supplemented by successful completion of 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences.

 

  • Or two years of experience as a County Social Services Aide 3 and an associate's degree which includes 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences.

 

  • Or any equivalent combination of experience and training and an associate’s degree which includes 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences and one year of experience as a County Social Services Aide 2 or in a similar position performing paraprofessional case management functions.

 

Other Requirements:

 

At the time of hire, a valid driver’s license and positive driving record, a favorable criminal background check, child abuse and FBI clearances, as well as favorable references are required. The applicant must provide proof of a valid Pennsylvania driver’s license within 60 days from the date of hire. An alternative form of identification will be accepted if you are not eligible to receive a Pennsylvania driver’s license under 67 PA. Code § 83 and driving is not an essential function of the position.
