Human Resources Intern

The Human Resources Intern assists the Human Resources Manager with administrative tasks in the HR department.  The HR intern will be assisting with day-to-day operations, including recruiting, onboarding, payroll support, safety procedures support, employee benefits, employee training, processing HR related paperwork, company events, and providing assistance to other HR departments across the Company gaining hands-on experience in various aspects of human resources.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Administrative support: filing, data entry of employee training records, preparing employee communications, preparing social media posts, monthly birthday/anniversary cards, performance review log, and other administrative tasks assigned. 
  • Payroll support: review timecards, prepare payroll maintenance forms, and maintain AX system. 
  • Recruitment support: Assist with recruiting including resume searches, conducting phone interviews, scheduling interviews, set-up pre-employment screening, maintaining Applicant Pro system, and posting jobs.
  • Onboarding support: Set-up and conduct new hire orientations and new hire benefit orientations and prepare packets, make employee files, add to AX, request badge, conduct E-Verify on new hires for I-9 form, maintain I-9 book, etc..
  • Safety support: Maintain OSHA log and accident binder, update safety cross daily, file work injury reports, scan and maintain safety & environmental records, order safety supplies, etc..
  • Benefits support:  assist with open enrollment event, gather benefit paperwork, assist new hires with enrollment, etc…
  • Culture support: assist employees and managers as needed on day-to-day questions/issues, assist with company events, run errands as needed, attend career fairs, and assist with company merchandise ordering. 
  • Support/enforce quality, safety, and environmental management system policies, procedures, and training.
  • Travel to other Company facilities may be required to provide support as directed and needed. 
  • Perform other tasks as directed by HR Manager, Director of HR, or Executive team. 

 

Skills and Qualifications desired: 

 

  • Currently pursuing an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in human resources or an HR certification.
  • Basic understanding of HR principles and labor laws.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Attention to detail, organized, responsible, and capable of multi-tasking.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite.
  • Strong ethics and reliability
  • Good time management and organization skills
  • Maintain confidentiality on sensitive information and HIPAA 
  • Professional mannerism.
