PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVES OF POSITION
The Room Service Server plays a key role in delivering an exceptional in-room dining experience for guests at The Langham, Boston. This position is responsible for ensuring timely and accurate delivery of food and beverage orders, maintaining service excellence aligned with Langham and Forbes standards, and providing warm, attentive hospitality.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Order Preparation & Delivery
- Review all Room Service pre-orders, ensuring awareness of delivery times and special guest requests.
- Accurately set up trays and tables, adhering to established presentation and service standards.
- Deliver orders promptly while ensuring a seamless and courteous guest experience.
- Communicate with the Order Taker regarding any delays or issues with food orders.
Guest Service & Experience
- Provide outstanding guest service with professionalism, efficiency, and a positive attitude.
- Respond promptly to guest requests for tray pickup, additional items, or adjustments.
- Assist with special in-room dining arrangements, such as amenities for VIP guests or celebration setups.
Operational Responsibilities
- Maintain an organized and stocked work area, replenishing necessary supplies as needed.
- Communicate inventory needs with the F&B Manager to ensure adequate stock levels.
- Ensure all service equipment (e.g., trays, hotboxes, glassware, china, and silverware) is clean, functional, and properly stored.
- Remove used trays and tables from guest floors promptly, maintaining cleanliness and order in service corridors.
- Follow safety, sanitation, and food handling guidelines, including the First In, First Out (FIFO) system for food storage.
- Complete HACCP log maintenance and refrigeration cleaning duties as assigned.
- Transport dirty linens to laundry and pick up clean linens at the end of each shift.
Qualifications & Skills
Experience & Knowledge
- Previous experience in Room Service, Hospitality, or Food & Beverage preferred.
- Familiarity with Micros Point-of-Sale (POS) systems is a plus.
Skills & Attributes
- Strong multitasking skills and ability to work efficiently under pressure.
- Excellent communication skills in both written and spoken English.
- Professional appearance, cheerful demeanor, and a guest-first mindset.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while contributing to a team.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, and reach for extended periods.
- Capable of lifting and carrying up to 30 lbs.
- Must be able to climb stairs, kneel, squat, and push/pull carts as needed.
