Business Education Teacher

As a Business Education Teacher, your role is to educate and inspire students in the field of business and related subjects. You will teach students in middle school or high school, helping them develop a solid understanding of business practices, agribusiness, and guide students as they explore their potential in the business world. Here's a comprehensive job description for a Business Education Teacher:


 

Curriculum Development and Instruction:

  • Develop and implement engaging lesson plans and instructional materials that align with the school's business education curriculum and educational standards.
  • Teach a range of business subjects, including economics, marketing, accounting, trade math, computer science, personal finance and other math related courses.
  • Utilize various teaching methods, resources, and technologies to accommodate diverse learning styles and abilities.
  • Facilitate hands-on learning experiences, including supervised business experiences (SBEs), laboratory activities, and field trips.


 

Classroom Management:

  • Establish a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes teamwork, respect, and responsible behavior.
  • Set clear expectations for student conduct and enforce classroom rules consistently.
  • Manage student behavior effectively and implement appropriate disciplinary measures when necessary.
  • Foster leadership skills and encourage students to actively participate in classroom and extracurricular activities.


 

Supervision of Business Experiences:

  • Guide students in planning and implementing supervised business experiences, such as starting a small business, internships, or operating a school store.
  • Provide support and mentorship to students in their projects, helping them set goals and monitor progress.
  • Ensure safety protocols and best practices are followed in all activities.


 

FBLA (formerly Future Business Leaders of America) Advising:

  • Serve as the advisor for the FBLA student organization, fostering student involvement and leadership development.
  • Organize and coordinate FBLA activities, including chapter meetings, career development events, leadership conferences, and community service projects.
  • Facilitate student participation in local, state, and national FBLA competitions and events.


 

Collaboration and Outreach:

  • Collaborate with other agricultural education teachers, faculty members, and industry professionals to share resources, plan events, and develop comprehensive agricultural education programs.
  • Establish connections with local agricultural businesses, organizations, and community members to enhance student learning opportunities and career exploration.


 

Recordkeeping and Administrative Tasks:

  • Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, supervised business related experiences, and FBLA participation.
  • Prepare progress reports, report cards, and other required documentation in a timely manner.
  • Attend faculty meetings, department meetings, and other school-related events as required.


 

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Career and Technical Education, or a related field (required). A master's degree may be preferred for some positions.
  • State-issued teaching certification or license in Business Education (required).
  • Strong content knowledge in business, math, agribusiness, and leadership development.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage students, colleagues, and community members.
  • Ability to create an engaging and inclusive learning environment.
  • Proficiency in using technology tools and educational software for instructional purposes.
  • Experience in business practices, FBLA involvement, or related industry experience is preferred.
