Position Summary
The Human Resources Intern will gain real-world exposure to various areas of HR as well as gain hands-on experience in a dynamic environment. This position will work closely with the HR team and contribute to influential projects across Employee Engagement, Talent Acquisition, HR Compliance, Benefits and Compensation. The HR intern will have a unique opportunity to successfully implement and contribute to various HR programs and initiatives that will positively impact the Moors & Cabot community.
Role Description
The Moors & Cabot Summer Internship Program provides current college students the ability to gain practical experience within the Financial Services industry. This summer will be filled with meaningful work experiences, networking, professional development, and engaging firm-sponsored events. You'll have the opportunity to work with senior leaders and have unparalleled mentorship while supporting company-wide initiatives. At the conclusion of the program, you will present on projects accomplished and key learning takeaways to your peers and other team members of Moors & Cabot.
This full-time role reports to the Vice President, Human Resources based out of our Boston Headquarters. Working hours are Monday - Friday 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM EST on a hybrid schedule: at least 3 days in office and up to 2 days remote.
The Moors & Cabot Summer Internship Program begins June 2 and is a 12-week program. Based on candidates, the Internship Program can be shortened to fit school or personal accommodations.
Role Responsibilities
Employee Engagement Events
- Create and distribute annual Social Events Survey and analyze results
- Partner with the HR Coordinator to coordinate and communicate events and programming that enhance employee experience
Talent Acquisition & Onboarding
- Prepare onboarding packages via DocuSign and follow up with candidates to completion
- Review candidate applications and make suggestions for pre-screens
- Assist with scheduling candidate phone screens, video screens and interviews
- Prescreen prospective candidates and summarize conversations for respective hiring teams
- Check candidate references prior to offer of employment
- Support team in scheduling and organizing New Hire Orientation
- Update/create job descriptions and upload them into the Career Library
HR Compliance-Related Projects
- Assist in organizing and maintaining employee records, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulatory requirements
- Create and maintain I-9 files and conduct audit of I-9s
Benefits and Compensation
- Assist with employee benefit of the month communications
- Research benchmarking compensation and benefits data to support competitive and equitable pay practices
- Participate in HR Initiatives team meetings to contribute ideas and enhance processes and initiatives
- Shadow other HR functions to gain a holistic view of HR operations
Key Measurements
- Ability to build rapport of employee population
- Professionalism shown in correspondence to employees, potential candidates, and external stakeholders
- Capability to prioritize tasks with little direction
Minimum Requirements
- Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Psychology or other related field
- Experience with Microsoft Office and Google Suite applications
- Strong sense of confidentiality in handling sensitive HR information
- Solid communication and writing skills
- Ability to organize and prioritize tasks
- Highly professional, communicative, empathic, and calm persona
Preferred Requirements
- Experience with DocuSign
