Poultry Farm Manager (Broiler & Breeder)
Local / Willing to relocate to Waverly, Nebraska
Key Responsibilities
- Manage live production operations, ensuring optimal performance across company farms and contract growers.
- Oversee breed mix, feed programs, and growout schedules to optimize production efficiency and quality.
- Implement and maintain health and nutrition programs to enhance animal welfare and support grower relations.
- Coordinate with the Live Haul department for scheduling logistics related to broiler growout and producer deliveries.
- Supervise the maintenance and operation of company vehicles used in live production.
- Analyze grower performance metrics and mortality (DOA) statistics to identify improvement areas and resolve issues.
- Work closely with feed mill operations and production teams to address feed quality and production challenges.
- Conduct weekly management meetings to ensure clear communication and address operational concerns.
- Collaborate with Safety Management personnel to implement safety protocols and training programs for a safe work environment.
- Engage with local communities to promote a positive company image and address any concerns related to live production operations.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory agencies and certification programs, maintaining required documentation and reporting.
- Perform additional responsibilities as needed to support overall production and operational goals.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Animal Science, or a related field. Equivalent work experience may be considered.
- Minimum of six years of experience in poultry production or a related industry.
- Proven supervisory experience, with the ability to lead diverse teams across multiple departments.
- Strong knowledge of broiler and breeder production methods, animal welfare standards, and industry best practices.
- Proficiency in computer operations, including Microsoft Excel and management software for data analysis and reporting.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate across departments.
- Preferred Qualifications
- Bilingual proficiency is a plus.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a results-driven approach.
- Physical and Safety Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds and perform physical tasks such as standing, walking, and reaching.
- Must follow biosecurity regulations, including showering before entering job sites and avoiding any contact with avian species outside of work.
- Required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) when visiting live production facilities.
Travel Requirements
- Willingness to travel 12 to 18 times per year for farm visits, industry meetings, and community engagement activities.
