POSITION: Maintenance Attendant III - Parks
POSITION NO: 7.167
DEPT: Leisure Services
This is semi-skilled work in the Parks and Athletic Fields Division of Leisure Services. Responsibilities include operating and maintaining a variety of automotive and power-driven equipment, including light- and heavy-duty equipment; installing, repairing, maintaining and inspecting irrigations systems; and maintaining City grounds. Employee acts as lead worker, as required and performs duties of subordinates, as needed.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Ability to operate a variety of automotive and light- and heavy-duty equipment; make minor equipment adjustments or repairs.
- Knowledge of the tools and equipment used in landscaping and grounds maintenance.
- Knowledge of irrigation systems, including design, installation, repair, and trouble-shooting.
- Knowledge of chemical applications pertinent to grounds maintenance.
- Ability to learn the City’s geographical area within six months of employment.
- Ability to perform tasks requiring physical strength and endurance.
- Ability to lift, carry, pull, push, and maneuver bulky and heavy materials; lifting of objects up to 75 pounds and routinely lifting up to 50 pounds overhead.
- Working knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions.
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with fellow employees and the public.
Training, Certification, and Experience
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Heavy manual labor and construction and grounds maintenance work experience.
- Experience in operating and maintaining moderately complex automotive and/or power-driven equipment.
- Or, an equivalent combination of training, education, and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Special Requirements
- Valid Florida driver’s license
- Obtain Playground Inspector Certification within one year of employment.
Copies of required certification(s) must be submitted with the application.
