Wholesale Sales Assistant

Job Summary

Your expertise and drive as a Wholesale Sales Assistant will help us deliver exceptional results for our clients.  You will play a vital role in supporting the sales team by managing administrative tasks, coordinating communication with clients, and ensuring a smooth flow of response and client follow-up.  You must possess strong organizational skills, have a high level of attention to detail, a passion for product and be able to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.  Ideally, you will have a degree in a related field, be familiar with CRM systems and reporting, have a background in the retail industry as well as understand the different retailer tiers.  This role is pivotal in delivering exceptional client experience that drives increased sales, profitability, and long-term customer loyalty. You will be required to travel up to 20% of the time for trade shows and client visits as well as work from our Lawrenceville office, Monday through Friday when not travelling for business purposes.

Key Responsibilities

Client Communication

  • Serve as the main point of contact for wholesale clients, addressing their inquiries, providing detailed product information, and offering comprehensive support including in-person client visits and follow-ups
  • Establish and nurture positive relationships with wholesale customers, ensuring their satisfaction and loyalty, both remotely from the office and through regular visits
  • Consistently and diligently follow up with clients to maintain strong connections and address their ongoing needs, incorporating face-to-face meetings as part of relationship-building
  • Offer clients tailored product suggestions and regularly send updated materials according to a scheduled timeline
  • Focus on reorders and retention strategies to sustain and grow relationships with existing clients, utilizing in-person visits when necessary
  • Write and send professional, friendly emails with relevant information to leads, ensuring clear and effective communication, supplemented by in-person presentations

Sales Support

  • Collaborate closely with the sales team to prepare and distribute sales materials, catalogs, and detailed product information to wholesale clients, including during client visits
  • Distribute stock updates, promotional materials, and information about new products to clients as required, both remotely from the office and during in-person visits
  • Maintain knowledge of inventory levels and work with the operations team to ensure product availability for wholesale orders.
  • Continuously build strong relationships with clients, enhancing client engagement through regular communication and face-to-face interactions
  • Communicate with clients regarding stock availability, lead times, and backorders to manage expectations and ensure transparency, incorporating in-person updates when needed
  • Develop an in-depth understanding of our products and partners, including their stores, online presence, and other items they sell, to provide tailored support and recommendations, from the office and while on client’s site
  • Perform other duties as assigned 

Experience and Qualifications

Essential Requirements

  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Sales Management, Business Administration, Marketing, Communications or related field
  • Experience in Retail or Wholesale Sales
  • Possess strong persuasion skills with an ability to build strong business relationships with existing and new customers 
  • Familiar with any type of CRM and CRM reports
  • Capable of managing multiple leads, handling tasks efficiently, and prioritizing high value leads
  • Knowledge of the Fashion, Gift and Accessories Industry
  • Knowledge of retailer stores, boutiques, chains, and Major Department stores
  • Passion to learn and take on tasks to grow with resiliency and adaptability
  • Proactive, independent spirit, and takes initiative with consistent follow through

Preferred

  • Familiar with QuickBooks

Schedule Expectations

  • Willing to travel domestically for client visits, sales conferences, and trade shows; approximately up to 20%  
  • In-office, Monday – Friday, 8:30am – 5:00pm

Position Type, Work Environment and Physical Demands

This is a full-time, salary, exempt position that operates from a professional office environment routinely using standard office equipment such as computers, phones, printers, photocopiers, and scanners and requires prolonged periods of sitting at a desk while working on a computer. While performing the duties of this job, the individual will be required to regularly hear and talk.  This is a largely sedentary role requiring the ability to sit at a desk, reach outward, use a phone, have use of fingers to operate office equipment such as a keyboard, mouse, phone, printer, copier, and to reach above the head, bend, or stand as necessary.
