Design & Construction Engineer - Summer Trainee

The Department of Buildings & General Services (BGS) is looking to hire college students to assist the Design & Construction Division with delivering construction projects across a variety of disciplines for State buildings. Duties may include design, review, and drafting of MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, & Plumbing) systems, construction project management, and construction oversight for State buildings projects. In addition to design/review/drafting, the position will also be required to perform field work to confirm measurements, troubleshoot existing systems, provide on-site review of construction in process, and assist in the preparation of contract documents.


A qualified individual will have completed at least one year worth of academic coursework within an ABET accredited engineering or construction management program. The position will work up to 40 hours per week, with flexible start and end dates. 

 

Minimum Qualifications

Actively pursuing an associate or bachelor’s degree in a building construction field such as engineering, architecture, interior design, or construction management.

 

Preferred Qualifications

Working knowledge of Computer Assisted Design and Drafting (CADD)
Strong communication, organizational, and analytical skills
Ability to develop effective working relationships and thrive in a fast-paced environment
