
Design Assistant - Summer 2025
Overview: The Design Assistant is an at-will, seasonal employee of the ODC Network (ODC); a West Michigan-based outdoor education and conservation organization. The primary job responsibilities include creating and editing materials for print production, assembling signage and assisting other staff in meeting the overall goals of the organization.
This position will work during the summer of 2025. Start and end dates are flexible based on the candidate's availability. Ideally the Design Assistant will work anywhere from 20-30 hours per week, depending on the candidate's schedule and availability. We will be accepting applications on a rolling basis until the position is filled.

Desired Skills:
- Strong ability to work both collaboratively and independently
- Willingness and ability to learn
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and demonstrated ability to achieve results through working with others
- Comfort or familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite including InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator
- Comfort or familiarity with operation of Cricut cutting plotters

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Work closely with Creative Director to create graphics and design layouts for in-house publications, on-site interpretive signs, exhibits, and trail maps
- Assist with interpretive sign development, research, and writing
- Assist with printing and fabrication of signs
- Assist with organizing sign supply inventory, ordering materials, and managing out-of-house productions
- Event and program photography
- Support the overall goals of the organization
- All other duties as assigned by Creative Director or Executive Management Team
Education/Experience:
- Working toward or obtained bachelor’s degree in art, design, English, environmental studies, or related field
Equipment Operated and Physical Demands:
- Must be proficient with Microsoft Office applications, Google suite, and the operation of general office equipment.
- Must be capable or willing to learn how to operate equipment including: 42” photo printer/plotter, and pneumatic press
- Flexibility to lean over a waist-high table and use xacto knives and straight edges
- Requires the ability to work outside in various weather conditions
- Must be able to occasionally lift to 50 pounds
