Departmental Manager 14 - Taxpayer Advocate Manager

This position manages and directs the operation of the Taxpayer Advocate Section within the Office of Advocacy Services. This Section serves as a resource of last resort for taxpayers and tax professionals who have not been able to resolve their tax related issues through Treasury’s normal channels of resolution. The Section additionally serves as Treasury’s formal referral point for all Treasury related constituent issues from the Governor’s Office of Constituent Services, the Michigan Legislature, and the Michigan Congressional Delegation. This position represents the interest of taxpayers and constituents, in a global sense, to department leadership in its policy making role. This position is responsible for resolving problems associated with high-profile, complex, sensitive accounts, ensuring taxpayers rights are protected and the department’s processes are fairly administered under the law.
