NEW HIGHER SALARY: $39,671 - $69,426

The Challenge

We are looking for an experienced Engineering Technician to join our Salisbury Construction team.

 

In this role, you will

  • Support senior technicians and engineers administering construction contracts via construction inspection and, if needed, stakeout.
  • Serve as lead project inspector on small/intermediate-sized projects.
  • Perform standardized and non–standardized tests of various materials for acceptance in accordance with contract documents and incorporated specifications/requirements.
  • Assist in supervising junior technicians and contractor staff and help in the coordination of coordinate assignments.  
  • Obtain and maintain certifications required to perform material sampling and testing.
  • Write diaries and reports on project operations, complete material reports, document pay records, perform construction calculations, and enter data on computer/iPads.

 

What You Bring

  • Experience analyzing and interpreting highway construction plans.
  • Experience maintaining/completing standard records, reports, and correspondence.
  • Advanced working knowledge and experience with math functions in algebra, geometry, and trigonometry.
  • Experience working in a team environment to complete assignments.
  • Computer knowledge using iPads, laptops, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook), HiCams, SharePoint, SharePlus, and math functions.
  • Ability to establish and maintain positive communication between technicians, engineers, contractors, and the public.
  • Solid verbal and written communications skills to communicate in a clear, concise, organized, and persuasive manner.
  • Ability to make independent decisions using sound engineering judgement.
  • Ability to work safely in an outside environment with exposure to hazards on construction sites, including heights, highway traffic, weather extremes, and traversing rough terrain in evaluating highway construction.
  • Fitness to perform moderate physical activity, including walking, climbing, balancing, kneeling, and standing.
  • Strength to lift 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work nights and weekends as required by project workload/staffing with fluctuating hours.
  • You apply a safety philosophy and program to all operations.
  • Ability to safely operate a motor vehicle.
  • Safety toe shoes.

Education & Experience

  • Associates Degree in Civil Engineering, Survey Technology, or a related discipline, and
  • 2+ years of engineering technician experience, or
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience.
