Digital Video Intern

Title: Digital Video Intern 

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt 

Supervisor: Sr. Digital Video Manager

Location: US-Fairfax preferred, or remote 

Department: Content Delivery 

Pay rate: $20.00/hr

Timeframe/duration: approx. May-August 2025

 

Overview of Position and Sample Projects: 

AVIXA (Audiovisual & Integrated Experience Association) is seeking a Digital Video Intern to join our Content Delivery team. You will work directly with our digital video team, focusing on video recording sessions and editing related tasks. This internship is best suited for someone interested in learning more about digital video production, broadcast AV or related fields. Bonus points if you’re passionate about technology (AV or otherwise)!

Projects in this internship would include: 

  • Editing video projects and/or supporting in-house video editors with project-specific needs
  • Helping run recording sessions at our studio at AVIXA HQ in Fairfax (preference to those candidates who can commute to Fairfax, VA) and remotely 
  • Publishing livestream content from our tradeshows by clipping segments, adding graphics, metadata and thumbnails to JW Player and YouTube
  • Assisting with any local shoots we have in the DMV area 
  • Assisting with research for SEO keywords and YouTube content

 

Qualifications: 

An ideal candidate would have the following qualities: 

  • Pursuing a degree or training in video production, broadcast AV, or a related field
  • Experience working with editing software such as Final Cut or Adobe Premiere
  • Familiarity with video production equipment such as cameras, lighting and audio equipment
  • Demonstrated creativity through a portfolio or sample projects
  • Understanding of storytelling techniques and visual aesthetics
  • Bonus points for experience with scriptwriting and/or graphic production
  • Highly organized – with minimal direction you can keep track of many projects, requirements, communicate progress, note roadblocks
    • Bonus points for experience working in a project management platform such as Click Up
  • Ability to manage multiple projects at once – you are comfortable switching between assignments while having the ability to determine priority and make appropriate progress on the most important tasks
  • Curious – a strong desire for continuous learning and proactively identifies opportunities and suggests solutions

 

Education: 

  • Currently enrolled in college, university, or continuing education program with focus in digital video, film, communications or a related field

 

Experience Level: 

  • Entry

 

Technical Skills: 

  • Video production equipment such as cameras, lighting, audio and/or streaming
  • Editing software suites such as Adobe Premiere or Final Cut
  • Bonus points for experience with scriptwriting, graphic development, or AI-solutions related to production workflows and techniques
  • Familiarity with MS Office Suite
