Elementary Gifted and Talented Facilitator  
The position for Elementary Gifted and Talented Facilitator will be available at East Central ISD for the 2024-2025 school year. All individuals (district employees included) who are interested in this position must apply online through Frontline via the district website. The deadline for submitting an application is 4:00 pm., January 27, 2025, or until the position is filled. 

PRIMARY PURPOSE:  Provide students and G/T clustered teachers with appropriate learning activities and experiences based on the district G/T guidelines to help students fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, and social growth.  Enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society
 
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment that reflect an understanding of the needs of gifted and talented students based on the district G/T guidelines and TEA standards.
  2. Use technology to strengthen the teaching/learning process.
  3. Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of gifted and talented students.
  4. Manage student behavior in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct and student handbook.
  5. Serve as a resource to the school staff by conducting staff development on characteristics of gifted and talented students.
  6. Serve as a resource to classroom teachers by providing resources, activities, and solutions to enrich G/T students experiences in the general education classroom.
  7. Provide push- in and/or pull-out services to G/T students as required by the district gifted and talented Handbook.
  8. Assume responsibility for the screening process of G/T Students including but not limited to testing and screening committees.
  9. Facilitate parent/school communication including assisting with parent nights.
  10. Maintain accurate and complete records as required.
  11. Serve on the campus G/T screening Committee and District G/T Task Force.
  12. Assume responsibility for continued professional development in the areas of gifted and talented.
  13. Perform other duties as assigned.

 
NOTE:     Not all applicants will be interviewed.  Each applicant’s resumé, application, and other available information will be considered in the screening process.  Only those persons currently meeting all minimum requirements will be screened.   

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 

Education/Certification:

 

Bachelor’s Degree

 

Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements 
Three or more years of teaching experience
Experience with multimedia technology
Minimum of 30 clock hours of G/T training required by the state (preferred)
East Central Independent School District experience (preferred)
Bilingual (preferred)
 

EQUIPMENT USED:  Computer (Internet and multimedia software), projector, document camera, printer, copier, telephone, fax  

WORKING CONDITIONS:  Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:  Protracted and irregular hours of work.  Maintain emotional control under stress.  Frequent standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, pushing, and pulling.  Move small stacks of textbooks, media equipment, desks, and other classroom or adaptive equipment.  May be required to lift and position student’s with physical disabilities: control behavior through physical restraint; and assist non-ambulatory students.  Exposure to biological hazards.  Daily district-wide travel between schools.

SALARY:  Based on the 2024-2025 Classroom Teacher Salary Scale
