Marketing, Communications, and Community Engagement Intern

Position Overview & Responsbilities:

The Marketing, Communications, and Community Engagement Intern will report to the Director of Navy Yard Marketing & Communications. The intern will assist with:

  • Creative content for digital communications, including graphic design projects
  • Communications projects related to the Navy Yard’s 25th Anniversary celebration
  • Event planning and execution
  • Community outreach and engagement initiatives

Digital Communications

  • Develop content for social media, blogs, and newsletter
  • Create social media graphics, infographics, and PowerPoint presentations

Community Engagement

  • Research other institutions’ public space programming and planning
  • Providing logistical support for internal and external Navy Yard events, presentations, tours, orientations, and other engagement efforts

Special Projects

  • Assist with tasks related to the Navy Yard’s 25th Anniversary
  • Other tasks as assigned

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Undergraduate or graduate student with relevant work experience and/or coursework in marketing and communications preferred
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Familiarity with social media platforms and writing for a digital audience
  • Understanding of event planning and execution
  • Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite or Canva
  • Passion for the City of Philadelphia and enthusiasm for PIDC’s mission to help businesses and non-profit organizations create and retain jobs in Philadelphia
  • Flexibility and willingness to pitch in to support various projects and tasks as needs arise
  • Interest in Public Spaces, Urban Planning, Economic Development, Community Development, Marketing, and Advertising is a plus
