Internship in Web Development
HSN is offering an internship opportunity for undergraduate students pursuing a degree or certification in IT, Graphic Design, Web Design, or related fields. The intern will focus on improving and unifying HSN’s digital platforms, specifically the HSN, CFCH (Central Florida Commission on Homelessness) and HMIS (Homeless Management Information System) websites. This remote position will provide valuable hands-on experience in web development and digital management within the nonprofit sector.
Internship Objectives:
The intern will play a crucial role in optimizing and streamlining the websites for HSN, CFCH, and HMIS, focusing on the following key tasks:
Key Responsibilities:

Website Platform Unification:
- Migrate the CFCH and HMIS websites to the same platform as HSN, currently hosted on Square.
- Ensure that all three websites are cohesive, user-friendly, and well-integrated for an improved, seamless experience across platforms.
- Address and unify design and functionality differences between the current WordPress and Square sites.

Dead Link Resolution:
- Conduct a thorough audit of the CFCH, HMIS, and HSN websites to identify and resolve any dead or broken links.
- Update outdated content to ensure information is accurate and accessible to the community and partner organizations.

Infographics and Reports Accessibility:
- Make important resources such as the Point in Time (PIT) count and other infographics easily accessible from the CFCH and HSN websites.
- Ensure that these documents are downloadable or viewable online in clear, user-friendly formats.

Payment Portal Integration:
- Work on integrating a Payment Portal that allows for the acceptance of ACH payments for donations, services, and other financial transactions directly on the websites.

Volunteer Event Management and Notifications:
- Develop an integrated event system for the website to facilitate the creation and promotion of events like the PIT count.
- Implement a volunteer notification system that keeps volunteers informed about upcoming events and allows them to easily register or confirm attendance.

Web Forms with Conditional Logic:
- Design and optimize web forms that use conditional logic, streamlining the user experience and making it easier for volunteers and service users to submit necessary information.

Tableau Dashboard Customization:
- Ensure the website design supports easy integration with Tableau dashboards, enabling data visualization for reporting and decision-making.

Eligibility:
- Must be currently enrolled in a 2- or 4-year degree program majoring in IT, Graphic Design, Web Design, or a related field.
- A major GPA of at least a 3.0.
- Open to students from universities such as Rollins College, Valencia College, Seminole State College, Full Sail University, and other accredited institutions nationwide.
- Experience or coursework in website development, graphic design, and familiarity with tools like WordPress, Square, Google Analytics, Tableau, and similar platforms.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a remote environment.
- Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and a willingness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced setting.
