Communications Associate

Communications Associate

 

The Communications Associate is integral to capturing stories from all facets of the Two Rivers community - student learning in and outside the classroom, staff learning community, and family engagement with the school. These stories help reinforce the Two Rivers brand. The Communications Associate reports to the Senior Director of External Relations. This job description is meant to provide structure to the responsibilities and accountability of this position. There may be additional responsibilities that are undertaken or that are assigned as the needs of students and or the school arise. 

 

This is a 12-month position which is non-exempt and therefore eligible for overtime pay under

the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act.

 

Responsibilities

 

Social Media & Content Creation

  • Create content and manage a posting calendar for TR social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube), considering school activities and other significant events (holidays, current events, etc.)
  • Capture photos and videos in classrooms and at signature events (Latin Dance Competition, Celebrations of Learning, NorthBay, community meetings, etc.)
  • Engage with the Two Rivers digital community which includes families, educators, education support organizations, businesses, and public officials
  • Track and analyze performance metrics 

 

Graphic Design

  • Utilize Canva and occasionally, Adobe platforms (InDesign, Photoshop) to create engaging visual pieces used for social media, print materials, email campaigns, t-shirts, presentations, and website graphics
  • Coordinate with school leadership teams to provide graphic design support on campus-specific collateral 

 

ParentSquare

  • Help ensure families and staff have access to ParentSquare
  • Train stakeholders on ParentSquare features as needed

 

Videography

  • Familiarity with iMovie, Premiere Pro, or other video editing software
  • Manage captioning and distribution of video products through Vimeo, YouTube, email, and website

 

Website Management

  • Manage the WordPress-powered Two Rivers website to guarantee accurate and updated content regarding school information, current events, and community highlights
  • Coordinate with school-based leadership teams to showcase current high-quality student work and share school traditions 

 

Additional Responsibilities

  • Develop and edit content for weekly school newsletters, general and program brochures, and donor reports
  • Provide support to network teams (Executive Director, Development, Enrollment, HR) in forms of graphic design, video editing, and email drafting

 

Professional Responsibilities 

  • All full-time employees are expected to work a 40-hour work week. 12-month employees should operate with a standard schedule that is approved by the direct supervisor and ensures teams meet all operational and coverage needs, which includes events such as after-school events and activities. All non-exempt employees will be required to be provided a non-duty unpaid lunch.
  • Be on time for meetings, duties, and professional development activities. 
  • Observe proper decorum, including adherence to dress codes and proper courtesies and respect in all dealings with students, parents, guardians, visitors, and fellow employees.
  • Attend and participate in school events. 
  • Check voicemail and email daily and respond promptly to requests from parents, administrators, and colleagues.
  • Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

 

Qualifications

  • Belief in the Two Rivers mission and educational model
  • Bachelor’s or higher degree from an accredited college or university
  • Minimum of two years of administrative or management experience is preferred; candidates with two or more years of experience in at least one of the following areas is desirable: graphic design, marketing, public or media relations, communications, human resources, and/or education
  • Highly organized with a keen attention to detail and results-oriented
  • Exceptional verbal, written, and presentation skills
  • Strong editing skills
  • Professional experience with social media, digital communications, website management, and graphic design  
  • Must be able to travel independently between multiple work sites
