Job Summary: Director of Family Engagement
Maumee Valley Country Day School is seeking a passionate, collaborative, and creative Director of Family Engagement to join its dynamic advancement team. This full-time position is key to building and maintaining strong relationships between the school and its diverse community, including current, potential, and applicant families. Reporting to the Director of Advancement, the Director of Family Engagement will play a pivotal role in creating meaningful connections, supporting the school’s personal, experiential, and global educational vision, and cultivating positive experiences for families at all stages of their journey with the school.
The ideal candidate is a connector who thrives in a vibrant, diverse environment and is dedicated to fostering a welcoming atmosphere for families, whether they are already part of the school community or considering it for their children. They will be responsible for developing and executing strategies to engage current families through programs, volunteer opportunities, and community-building initiatives. Additionally, the Director will help guide potential and applicant families through the admissions process by offering support, answering questions, and showcasing the values of the school, creating a strong foundation for long-term relationships. The Director will manage volunteer coordination, ensuring that family involvement is impactful, organized, and nurtured.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement family engagement strategies that align with the school’s mission and values, engaging both current families and potential/applicant families.
- Manage and nurture relationships with current families while building trust and engagement with applicant families, ensuring a seamless transition into the school community.
- Oversee volunteer programs and opportunities for families to actively participate in school life, fostering a sense of belonging.
- Coordinate events and activities that promote school spirit, unity, and diversity, welcoming both current and prospective families.
- Collaborate closely with the advancement team to ensure alignment with fundraising, marketing, and enrollment efforts, incorporating family engagement as a key element in recruitment and retention strategies.
- Serve as a key point of contact for families, offering personalized support and fostering an open, welcoming environment, particularly for applicant families navigating the admissions process.
- Lead communication efforts to keep families informed, engaged, and connected with the school, and create outreach strategies to introduce prospective families to the school's culture and values.

- Relationship Building: Proven ability to establish and maintain strong, lasting relationships with families, faculty, and staff, ensuring effective communication and fostering a sense of community.
- Event Planning & Coordination: Strong organizational skills to plan, coordinate, and execute events and activities that engage families and promote school unity.
- Volunteer Management: Ability to recruit, coordinate, and manage volunteers, ensuring their involvement is impactful, meaningful, and aligned with school goals.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders and articulate the school’s mission, vision, and values.
- Collaboration & Teamwork: A collaborative mindset, able to work closely with other departments, including advancement, admissions, and marketing, to support school objectives.
- Customer Service & Support: Ability to provide high-level, personalized support to families, addressing concerns and guiding them through the school experience, particularly during the admissions process.
- Problem Solving: Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills to address challenges, find solutions, and improve family engagement strategies.
- Cultural Competency: Sensitivity to and experience working in diverse environments, with a commitment to fostering inclusivity, unity, and a welcoming atmosphere for all families.
- Project Management: Proficient in managing multiple initiatives simultaneously, ensuring timely execution and alignment with strategic goals.
