About this Job

This summer internship offers a college/university chemistry student the opportunity to work on projects to evaluate the physical and UV-durability performance of coatings based on inorganic and organic compounds, directed by the group leader or chemist.

Summer interns will be trained on common test methods and formulation techniques and will be asked to run 1-2 major projects during the course of the internship. The major projects will be focused on a specific chemistry, development, technique, or product failure. Interns may be asked to write a paper or present to the team the results of their project at the end of the internship. In addition to the major project, interns will complete smaller tasks over the course of the internship.

Position Overview

This summer internship offers a college/university chemistry student the opportunity to work on projects to evaluate physical and UV-durability performance of coatings based on inorganic and organic compounds, directed by the group leader or chemist.

Essential Duties/Functions

Essential Duties are those that are critical, integral, necessary, crucial, primary, and/or fundamental. These essential functions are the basic job duties that an employee must be able to perform.

·  Assemble paint samples.

·  Perform physical and durability testing of paint samples.

·  Record results of testing.

·  Evaluate paint samples to meet specifications.

·  Prepare testing panels to specification.

Minimum Requirements

·  Ongoing college/university chemistry or equivalent science program ongoing

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

·   Needs to be able to manage responsibilitites listed above. Should be computer literate and have good verbal and written communication skills. Proficient math skills, knowledge of metric and english measurement systems.

Physical Requirements

·  Office enviroment/no specific or unusual physical or enviromental demands other than should not be color blind.
