Utility Operator

JOB SUMMARY:

The Utility Department operates, maintains, and repairs the municipal water and wastewater systems for the entire Village including: 3 water towers, 6 wells, 70 miles of water mains, 800 hydrants, 11 sanitary sewage lift stations, 60 miles of sanitary mains, and the wastewater treatment plant that treats approximately 1.50 mgd.

Utility Operators perform a wide variety of tasks pertinent to the operation and maintenance of these systems. This Operator position will have the opportunity to learn all aspects of the Village Utility and work both within the wastewater treatment plant as well as maintain the wells/water towers and sanitary collection system throughout the Village.

The Water and Wastewater Utility Department includes 8 Utility Operators, Field Operations Coordinator, Assistant Utility Director/Engineer, Administrative Assistant, Office Assistant, and the Director of Public Works/Engineer.

The current pay range for this position is $23.55/hour - $33.75/hour; starting pay is dependent on qualifications. Yearly pay increases for this position include increases for both DNR certifications and performance-based merit.
