BIOLOGICAL AIDE 

Position # SNL 2629
 

WEEKLY HOURS 29.5   

SEASONAL:  APRIL-OCTOBER 

STARTING PAY:  $17.81 HOURLY RATE 
 

 

This position requires weekends, holidays and some evenings/nights on a regular basis

Summary:
To gather and maintain survey data and to repair and maintain equipment necessary to conduct marine fisheries operations.

 

YOUR EXPERIENCE COUNTS

Each additional year of approved formal education may be substituted for one year of required work experience and/or each additional year of approved work experience may be substituted for one year of required formal education. 


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Completion of high school, G.E.D., or its equivalent. Each additional year of approved formal education may be substituted for one year of required work experience.

Experience: Three years' experience in fisheries or wildlife conservation, commercial fishing, landscaping, carpentry, agriculture, outdoor recreation, or park management, including experience in operating or maintaining equipment.

License/Certification: Valid Driver's License

 

Responsibilities:


  • Assists in sampling of marine species, collecting data on physical and chemical properties of the marine/estuarine habitats.

    Conduct sea sampling of commercial and recreational fisheries.

    Process data under the supervision of senior staff.

    Assist in maintaining fish ladders, boats, vehicles and other equipment or facilities in the Division.

    Mount and age scale samples and conduct laboratory analysis for resource programs.
