Biological Aide - Piping Plover and Upland Sandpiper

Position #SNL2543 - 

Full Time Seasonal less than 6 months.

Trade port. 

Approximately:  April – August.
 

Weekends and Holidays Required

 

Starting pay for this position:  $17.81/hour 
 

 

The State of New Hampshire, NH Fish and Game Department has a seasonal full time vacancy for biological aide.

Summary:
Carries out piping plover protection efforts including monitoring nesting birds and their habitat, collecting, maintaining and summarizing data into a final report, coordinating beach management and volunteer efforts, and maintaining equipment necessary to conduct protection efforts. Assists in monitoring upland sandpipers at Pease International 

 YOUR EXPERIENCE COUNTS:
 Each additional year of approved formal education may be substituted for one year of required work experience and/or each additional year of approved work experience may be substituted for one year of required formal education. 

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - TRANSCRIPTS REQUIRED

Education: Completion of high school, G.E.D. or its equivalent. Each additional year of approved formal education may be substituted for one year of required work experience.

Experience: Three years’ experience in fisheries or wildlife conservation, commercial fishing, landscaping, carpentry, agriculture, outdoor recreation, or park management, including experience in operating or maintaining equipment.

License/Certification: Valid Driver’s License required. Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) must meet the minimum standards as established by the agency.

 

Responsibilities:
 

  • Monitors piping plovers during the breeding season.
  • Sets up, maintains, and disassembles project fencing.
  • Collects and maintains data and writes required reports.
  • Coordinates beach management activities among town, state and federal officials under the supervision of Nongame Program staff.
  • Conducts public education and outreach to beach goers and others as requested.
  • Maintains tools and facilities associated with the projects.
  • Assists with monitoring upland sandpipers during the breeding season.
  • Assists with other projects as assigned.
