Reporter, Financial Services and Retirement

What You’ll Do

  • Write and publish daily news and feature-length articles for our websites.
  • Build strong industry relationships and develop key sources among top firms, recordkeepers, investment professionals, and executives.
  • Break news in legislative, regulatory, and executive arenas, covering the Department of Labor, Treasury, IRS, and SEC.
  • Conduct and publish exclusive interviews with industry leaders.
  • Attend industry events, report from conferences, and spot emerging trends.
  • Manage multiple assignments while meeting daily, weekly, and monthly deadlines.
  • Assist in producing newsletters, web content, and multimedia projects.

What You Bring

  • 0-5 years of experience in journalism or financial services, with a strong interest in covering retirement plans and institutional investing.
  • Ability to multitask and produce 1-2 news stories per day along with feature-length pieces.
  • A track record of breaking news and delivering well-reported, actionable stories.
  • Strong research skills, including the ability to analyze court filings, financial reports, and legislative documents.
  • Excellent writing and communication skills, with proficiency in AP Style.
  • Bonus skills: Understanding of financial markets, investing, HTML, WordPress, podcasting, video editing (FinalCut Pro), or copyediting.
